The JICA “Project for Human Resource Development to Strengthen Organizational Capacity of UXO Lao” officially commenced in June 2025, aiming to enhance both organizational management and field operations through human resource development, with a strong emphasis on developing the capacity of UXO Lao personnel as the foundation for sustainable progress.

Within the framework of this project, UXO Lao is now in the process of developing the Long-Term Strategic Plan (2027–2036). On 7–8 August, with support from JICA, important steps were taken toward this process.

The process began on 7 August with a Technical Working Group Meeting, where representatives from nine provinces shared insights on key needs, including team capacity, resources, and facilities. On the following day, the 1st Joint Coordination Committee Meeting was held in Bolikhamxay Province, during which participants discussed project progress, proposed revisions to the Project Design Matrix, and the Annual Work Plan.

These activities mark a critical foundation to ensure that the new strategy reflects the realities on the ground while remaining true to the shared vision of UXO Lao staff nationwide.
