Vientiane Capital – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Lao National Unexploded Ordnance Programme (UXO Lao) have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Record of Discussions for the new phase of a technical cooperation project, aimed at strengthening the organizational capacity of UXO Lao.

The agreement was signed on 28 November 2024 at UXO Lao Headquarters Office by the Senior Representative of JICA Laos, Mr. Noriyuki ITO and the National Programme Director of UXO Lao, Mr. Anousak PHONGSA.

The three-year project, titled Project for Human Resource Development to Strengthen Organizational Capacity of UXO Lao, will run from May 2025 to April 2028. This initiative underscores JICA’s continued commitment to supporting UXO Lao in its efforts to reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance and improve safety and livelihoods in affected communities
