On November 8, 2025, an unexploded 500-pound large bomb was found along Road No. 20, at the site of the Xe Set River bridge construction in Saen Vang Yai Village, Salavan District, Salavan Province.

Employees of SECC Local Bridging Constructor, the state-owned company responsible for the road project, uncovered the bomb while excavating soil for the new bridge construction. They immediately informed local authorities, who coordinated with UXO Lao Salavan Provincial Office to dispatch technical specialists for inspection and verification.

Through technical verification, it was confirmed that the bomb is a 500 pounds MK-82 type and remains dangerous. UXO Lao’s technical specialists and field staff are now working to remove and destroy it at a designated location to ensure the safety of residents and travelers along Road No. 20.
