For the past 30 years, UXO Lao has diligently implemented its mandate in fulfilling its assigned responsibilities. This milestone represents a significant achievement and underscores the sustained commitment of the Government of the Lao PDR to addressing the legacy of unexploded ordnance (UXO) remaining from past conflicts throughout the country over the past three decades.
Today, we will take you to view a short documentary that provides insight into history of the UXO contamination problem in the Lao PDR. Highlights the operations of UXO Lao from its establishment to the present and our strategic plan to be implemented over the coming decade.
Certainly, resolving the UXO contamination in the Lao PDR cannot be carried out effectively and efficiently without the continued assistance of friendly countries, development partners and international organizations that stood alongside the Government and UXO Lao. We sincerely hope that all stakeholders will maintain their strong support for UXO Lao as a key pillar in UXO clearance, ensuring that contaminated land is progressively made safe for productive use and development, and enabling the country to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 18: “Lives Safe from UXO.”
