Between May 17–19, 2026, the field operations team of UXO Lao in Attapeu Province, with support from the U.S. Government through Tetra Tech, successfully destroyed three MK 82 GPLD aerial bombs weighing 500 pounds each (approximately 226.7 kilograms) in Vonglakhone Village, Phouvong District, Attapeu Province.

The bombs had previously been discovered in a cassava plantation owned by Mr. Hat, a landowner and resident of Vonglakhone Village. Following the discovery, UXO Lao Attapeu team conducted a survey to identify the ordnance and develop an appropriate disposal plan. The team also coordinated closely with local authorities and informed local residents about the planned destruction operation.

After completing technical assessments and implementing safety measures to ensure community safety, the field team decided to relocate the bombs from the discovery site to a designated demolition area located approximately 1,500 meters away from the community. The operation applied a low-order detonation technique and was successfully carried out in accordance with established technical procedures.
