On 18 May 2026, UXO Lao welcomed a delegation from the U.S. Embassy , led by Mrs. Michelle Outlaw, Chargée d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy to the Lao PDR. The delegation visited the new UXO Lao office in Huaphanh province which was recently completed and handed over to UXO Lao.

The construction of the building was supported by the U.S Government through Tetra Tech under the infrastructure improvement component implemented in U.S funded provinces to enhance staff living and working conditions.

Meanwhile, Ms. Martine Therer, Resident Representative of UNDP Lao PDR., also joined the visit during her joint mission with the U.S Embassy delegation in Huaphanh province.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Anousak Phongsa, National Programme Director of UXO Lao, together with UXO Lao staff members in Huaphan province. The visit was highly meaningful for UXO Lao and reflected the strong cooperation among the Lao government , the U.S. Government and UNDP in effective implementation of UXO/Mine Action activities in Lao PDR. These efforts contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 18, “Lives Safe from UXO”, as well as the obligations under the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).

UXO Lao expresses its sincere gratitude to the U.S Government and UNDP in Laos for their valuable and continued support, as well as their commitment to addressing the issue of unexploded ordnance remaining in the Lao PDR.
