UXO Lao has successfully concluded its 2025 Semi-Annual Review and Work Planning Meeting for the second half of the year. The three-day meeting, held in Paksan District, Borlikhamxay Province, brought together key stakeholders to review progress, address challenges, and set priorities for the remainder of 2025.

Chaired by Mr. Anousak Phongsa, National Programme Director of UXO Lao, the meeting gathered participants from UXO Lao headquarters, nine provincial offices, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, NRA (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), as well as delegation from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Tetra Tech.

Over the course of the meeting, participants reviewed the results of UXO Lao’s activities during the first six months of 2025, openly discussing challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.

The meeting also finalized operational targets for the second half of 2025, including:

  • Delivering Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) in 244 villages.
  • Conducting non-technical survey in 78 villages.
  • Carrying out technical surveys over 2,396 hectares.
  • Clearing 1,8463 hectares of contaminated land.

The event concluded successfully at 16:00 on 6 August 2025, reaffirming UXO Lao’s commitment to safeguarding communities and advancing the Lao PDR’s progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 18 – Lives Safe from UXO.
