On 6 April 2026, UXO Lao field operations team in Attapeu Province funded by the U.S. Government 
successfully carried out the safe destruction of a 500-pound MK82 aerial bomb. The ordnance had been discovered earlier by local villagers in Vongxomphou Village, Phouvong District, and was reported to UXO Lao team on 1 April 2026, while they were conducting a technical survey to identify confirmed hazardous areas (CHA) within the village.

The ordnance had been discovered earlier by local villagers in Vongxomphou Village, Phouvong District, and was reported to UXO Lao team on 1 April 2026, while they were conducting a technical survey to identify confirmed hazardous areas (CHA) within the village.Following a technical assessment, UXO Lao team, in coordination with an international expert from Tetra Tech, decided to relocate the bomb to a designated demolition site in Dakkiat Village, Sanxay District. The operation was carried out safely and completed without any damage to lives or property.
